Club Governance

Newman Collard Tennis Club is an LTA Registered club run by a committee of volunteer members elected or nominated under the rules of the club constitution. A copy of the rules that guide the committee is included below and can also be found alongside other club policies on the Documents page of this website:

It is the aim of the committee to:

  • Help maintain the courts for the village and provide a safe, secure and inclusive environment for members and non-members to play tennis
  • Manage the club for the benefit of its members displaying principles of openness, transparency, accountability and financial integrity

The Club achieves these aims through:

  • Identifying and maintaining the safeguarding, welfare and all other standards and policies required for LTA Registration
  • Submitting the Club to the annual LTA registration process to demonstrate that the Club meets these standards
  • Following the principals of tier 1 good governance as defined by Sport England Good Governance Code of Practice for small sports clubs

The benefits and requirements of LTA Registration and Tier 1 Good Governance principals are outlined in more detail below.

LTA Registration

LTA registration confers many benefits on the club, but is also evidence to parents, members and prospective members and that the venue is, safe, welcoming and inclusive. LTA registration is an annual process usually carried out in October. Registration requires a venue to provide evidence that it meets minimum standards and can be accompanied by an on-site audit.

  • Standard 1 – Safeguarding Policies and Procedures
  • Standard 2 – Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Procedures
  • Standard 3 – Welfare Officer
  • Standard 4 – Criminal Record Checks
  • Standard 5 – Risk Assessments

You can see what the Club continues to do to meet these standards and see the results of the 2019 on site audit:
