Captains Update
Sun, 15 Jun 2025 00:00

It is good to see that you are all getting used to the new software. Please remember that we still need notes on matches, as before, when a match is postponed (with the reason), unfinished or there are any unusual scores eg retirements etc. Otherwise we do not know what has happened. Please refer the captains guide for details on how to do this:
These captains updates will also now be added onto the website under News & Updates so that you don’t have to rummage around trying to find an old email:
MATCH START TIMES
We have already had five matches so far this season which failed to finish due to the lights going off at 22.00 (or even later!). Whilst we realise that this might possibly happen due to exceptionally long sets, this should be unusual! Rescheduling matches for this reason causes extra potential backlog.
We would like to remind all teams that all players should be on court for 7pm. We would expect players to arrive 10-15 minutes earlier so that that they can chat, go to the toilet etc and are ready to go on court promptly at this time. Warm ups should be efficient and it’s the job of the captains to make sure these do not go on too long. Home captains with light cut off times should ask the opposition to arrive in plenty of time.
NB: Captains please check that you know about rule 27 incase a match doesn’t finish.
REVERSING A MATCH
If a match needs to be replayed at the opposition’s venue (see rule 27), only the Divisional Secretary can reverse the fixture venue. Please put a note on the match to this effect.
ENTERING RESULTS
A reminder that matches need to be entered within 72 hours please. If you are going to be away, please arrange for your Fixtures Secretary to put these on for you.
LTA SOFTWARE
We are still waiting for the LTA to resolve some issues. Retirements & Abandoned matches are not currently scoring correctly - we are keeping a record of these matches. We must have a note on the match please explaining what happened. One pair matches also cannot be added properly- please refer to the captains guide on how to do this in the meantime, and we will keep this updated.
UNKNOWN PLAYERS
Another reminder that you should not be playing new players until they are affiliated to your club. Please see our note on this on our website:
Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
