SHARED IDEAS FROM OUR COMMUNITY
A quite excellent idea of how to stall damp tennis balls as displayed by Prestwood Tennis Club:
REQUESTS FROM VARIOUS TENNIS CLUBS
Any ideas for recycling old tennis balls.
Over 500 million tennis balls are produced each year with nearly all of them ending up in landfill. Wimbledon alone uses approx 54,000 balls every year and other Grand slams use more.
It takes 400 years for a tennis ball to decompose. We are aware of the following organisations already but need more:
LTA TENNIS BALL RECYCLING INITIATIVE
The LTA is launching a national scheme for collection of old tennis balls and reprocessing into safety surfaces and other products. This is the only scheme to avoid old balls eventually going to landfill. Some clubs are currently running a pilot scheme. The LTA are partnering with Dyuce and for more information please follow this link: https://www.dyuce.com/
www.recycaball.com Redistributes them/ donates them to local charities and gives 15p back to the club
We have had varying reviews about this as they decide which balls are suitable & only seem to want balls that are still playable. They are not currently taking on any new clubs because they are over-subscribed.
www.priceofbath.com Pheonix Tennis Balls - made in England "The first planet friendly tennis ball"
Make tennis balls out of 100% used tennis balls. They sell the ball and then you can return them to be recycled. They are more expensive than regular tennis balls.
