Constitution of Advantage Tennis

  1. Name
    1. The name of the organisation is Advantage Tennis (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Association’).

 

    1. The Association is constituted as a not-for-profit unincorporated association
  1. Objectives
    1. The Association will provide free and low-cost community tennis and other sports in London for disadvantaged young people. 
    2. The Association will work with sporting bodies, community groups, local authorities, schools, youth clubs and other relevant organisations.  
    3. The Association will provide access to tennis courts, equipment, coaching, courses and other facilities as necessary.
    4. The Association will promote the involvement of disadvantaged young people in community tennis and support relevant activities, such as attending tennis and other sporting events.
    5. The Association will keep local people informed about proposed courses and activities.
  2. Membership
    1. Membership of the Association will be open to anyone who supports the objectives of the Association and participates in its activities.

 

    1. Members of the Association must adhere to the Association’s equal opportunities statement.

 

    1. The Association may, at its discretion, refuse any application for membership or participation in the activities of the Association.

 

 

  1. Honorary Officers
    1. At the Annual General Meeting, the Association shall elect a Chairperson, a Secretary/Treasurer (and any other officers as required).

 

    1. The Association’s honorary officers will collectively take responsibility for the Association’s affairs.

 

    1. Any officer wishing to withdraw from membership must sign, and submit to the Association, a written notice. On receipt by the Association, they will cease to be a member.

 

    1. The Association can co-opt people to work for the Association as required.

 

  1. Finances

 

    1. The Treasurer will open an account in the name of the Association and present a report on the accounts at the Annual General meeting.

 

    1. Funds for the Association will be raised voluntarily and all money raised by the Association will be spent solely on the objectives of the Association

 

  1. Equal Opportunity  
    1. The Association is committed to treating all people equally and with respect irrespective of their nationality, political or religious beliefs, race, disability, belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

 

  1. Annual General Meeting
    1. The Annual General Meeting will take place in February each year.

 

    1. Two members of the Association will constitute a quorum at the AGM.

 

  1. Dissolution

 

    1. The Association may be wound up at any time if agreed by at least two-thirds of members present and voting at an AGM. In the event of winding up any assets remaining, after all debts have been paid, shall be given to another Group with similar aims.

 

 

  1. Adoption of Constitution

 

    1. This constitution was adopted at a meeting held on 1st February 2025 at the Annual General Meeting held at 202 Lanyard Court, 24 Nellie Crescent Way, London E3 4RQ.
