New Tennis Courts and Floodlights for 2020 Season

2020 promises to be a very exciting year for Almscliffe Tennis & Bowling Club. The news about our new court and floodlight project is all good. We now have well over £200,000 towards our £218,000 target.   Susan Gosling’s hard work in submitting time-consuming grant applications on behalf of the club paid off, and we have been allocated funds by Garfield Weston, Holbeck Trust, Foyle Foundation, Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation as well as Weeton Village Institute and one of the Leeds Masonic Lodges. The Woodland Trust have granted us 420 saplings to in-fill hedges and screen the old court.  Jonathan Wells has tied down project tenders, and the LTA were satisfied that we have drawn together sufficient funds to finance the build of the new court, resurface the existing ones and install floodlights on all 3.   The LTA issued their formal offer just before Christmas which has now been signed and accepted on behalf of the club.

We are ‘on our marks’ ready for the groundworks to commence; we just need the rain to stop!  We are hoping to complete the build by the end of April.
