Our Membership Rules Take Another Leap Forward

At Alveley Tennis Club's Annual General Meeting 2026, it was decided by the committee that two important changes would be made to our Membership Rules going forward.

After the decision made in 2025 to go fully digital with the administration and payment of our membership, this has allowed us more flexibility in how we can deliver a yearly membership. Therefore, it has been decided that instead of having a fixed June-June yearly membership, all members will now get a rolling year's membership from whenever they sign up. This means that if you become a member in April, you won't have to worry about paying again in June, and instead have your year's membership run all the way through to the following April! Of course, the option to pay monthly still applies, and new members pay our discounted prices for their first 12 months, no matter when they sign up.

Another decision on Membership agreed on by those at the 2026 AGM was to slightly increase our prices for new members. A membership for a new adult has increased from £65 to £75, and a family has increased from £130 to £150, while all prices for under-18s and students have been consolidated at £20. The rationale behind this decision was to try and boost member retention from year 1 into year 2, something Alveley Tennis Club has set as one of its main goals for the 2026/7 year.

Other news from the AGM included reports on the healthy states of coaching, the club's finances, and thriving social sessions, which currently run across five days a week! It was suggested by Coach Jack that in the Summer we could run a semi-competitive inter-club tournament, and as a club we intend to spend a grant to improve our growing pickleball facilities over the next few months, so lots to look forward to. Here's hoping we can break the 100 member barrier in our new membership year!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Alveley Tennis Club is looking to fill two open committee positions relating to Membership and Pickleball. Please call, message or speak to a committee member if you'd be able to help out.
