Welcome Information For New Members
Welcome to Amherst if you've just joined!
We do hope you enjoy your time at the club and look forward to meeting you.
Most of the general information you will need can be found on the other pages of our website but if there is anything else you would like to know, someone on the Contact Page will be able to help.
Information about the practicalities you will need to know as a new member is below:
Access to The Club
You will find the club facilities open most days, however if you require access to the top 5 courts and Club House outside of the normal club hours, you will need to pay a one-time refundable deposit of £10 for an entry gate swipe card and key to the club house. Your swipe card and key are available on request from the Coaching Team.
If you are the last person to leave the club please ensure all lights are out, the clubhouse is locked and the gate is closed behind you. Please ensure any remaining players have the means to lock up before you leave the club.
Tennis balls are provided FREE by the club for all social and match play. The balls can be found in the floodlight meter cupboard situated along the back wall. Please replace them in the tin and in the cupboard after use. If a ball goes out of the court confines, please retrieve it.
Amherst fields many teams of different standards in various age groups and leagues. Details are on the Teams & Tournaments notice board. If you would like to play for a team contact the Men’s or Ladies captain or ask one of the Coaching Team.
Floodlights cost £1 per 15 minutes. Automatic cut out at 10.00pm. Meters are in the cupboard on the back wall.
Our club is run by volunteers – other than our professional coaches, we have no paid staff and all our income is used to maintain and continually improve our facilities.
Volunteering to help is a great way to meet other members quickly, so if you have a little spare time and would like to join our merry band of volunteers please contact Pearl on 07713 877208. We cover everything from admin to picking up leaves, from planning social events to arranging match fixtures, from stocking the bar to doing minor repairs, or from updating the website to just emptying the bins so there really is something for everyone. If you’d like to get involved and help we’d love to hear from you.
