Safeguarding - ARTC Coaches Induction Programme
The role of coaches is vital in ensuring that safeguarding of both children and adults is paramount in the coaching provision of our club.
At ARTC we follow NSPCC and LTA guidelines of www.safetoplaytennis.co.uk which members can access directly.
In addition, our designated Welfare Officer (Chris Howat) has a direct email address which any member can access with queries surrounding safeguarding issues or to ask for advice welfare@artc.org.uk.
If Chris is unavailable any email will be directed to the Safeguarding Sub-committee.
ARTC expects all coaches to provide written evidence of their:
- Current DBS documentation
- Risk assessments for their coaching programme
- First Aid qualification
- Relevant insurance cover
- LTA accreditation
- Outline of Coaching Programme
- Register of participants
Copies of these documents will be kept on Club records for the duration of time that the coach is involved with the Club and it will be the coach’s responsibility to update any documentation and notify the club at info@artc.org.uk if any information changes.
In addition, we expect coaches to acknowledge in writing that they have:
- Read ARTC Safeguarding Policies
- Accessed the LTA Webinar https://vimeo.com/670749166 which is a short video dealing with the responsibilities of the venue and the coach.
- Accessed https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/safeguarding/coaching-standards/
Coaches will only have access to emergency contact details for members via the organising adult from the club.
For Adult coaching this will be adultcoaching@artc.org.uk
and for Junior coaching this will be juniorcoaching@artc.org.uk
By fulfilling these requirements a coach will show they are committed to maintaining a safe environment for all ARTC members.
