American Tournaments

These tournaments take place on the four public holidays : Easter Monday, two in May and the final one in August.
Who may Enter: Senior Members, Off Peak Members, Student Members and Senior Juniors.
Format of Play:
Generally Mixed Doubles but there may be some Men’s/Ladies’ Doubles rounds depending on the mix of entrants.
There will be 6 rounds of doubles play with each round comprising 8 games. Pairings change each round and are decided at random. Depending on the number of players, you will sit out for one or two of the rounds.
The August American Tournament differs from the ones earlier in the year in that the scoring system allows for some handicapping, meaning everyone is given a chance of winning games. Everything will be explained on the day!
On completion of each round players should advise the organiser of the number of games won.
The winning man and lady will be the man and lady scoring the highest average of games won in each round.
It is a good opportunity to mix in with other members so new members to the Club are especially welcome.
How to Enter: Entry forms are issued a few weeks prior to each event.
You should receive an email confirming that your booking has been successful. If you do not receive this, please contact the tournament organiser.
Places are strictly limited so if you wish to play, please enter as soon as possible after receiving your invitation.

American Tournaments 2024
Our American Tournaments continue to be popular. Maybe it is the mix and match format where pairings are decided at random each round, or maybe it is the lovely teas, or maybe just an opportunity to play some competitive tennis in a more relaxed social setting. This year, we only held three of them as the one scheduled for the early May public holiday was a total wash-out.
