Welcome to Barwick-in-Elmet Tennis Club!
We are a village tennis club who are proud of running a friendly club for all of the family.
You don't need to have played tennis before to join our club as we can offer coaching to learn the basic skills you need to progress and enjoy playing tennis with us.
There are 3 hardcourt outdoor courts and a small clubhouse in the heart of Barwick-in-Elmet's village. Inside the clubhouse there are changing rooms and a small kitchen area. Toilets can be used at the nearby village hall and at the Miners Institute, a couple of minutes up the road.
The club was established in 1972, with funds and land from the Parish Council. Our founding members, some of whom still play here, worked hard to get the club off the ground.
The club house was built in 1974; a third court was added in 1984, to enable participation in the Yorkshire league.
These improvements led to the club achieving a unique double in 1995, winning the Barkston Ash league and knock-out cup!
In June 2025 following extensive fund raising we replaced the perimeter fencing to a more modern and secure look and feel for the club's courts. Our Committee are always busy and our fundraising journey now starts again so we can raise enough funding to resurface our courts.
We hope you'll join us, and be a part of the next phase of our history.
Come and see for yourself how our club can benefit you from a fitness and social perspective. Club Membership is of great value for money at only £35 for an individual, or £50 for a family for the whole season and year.
