Baschurch Tennis Club

We are a family-friendly, thriving club with approxiamtely 170 members in the north Shropshire village of Baschurch. We were among one of the first tennis clubs in Shropshire to obtain the LTA Clubmark registration and we pride ourselves on having a reputation as a warm and welcoming club that is open to players of all ages and abilities. 

We have two tarmac, hard-surfaced courts with LED floodlights to ensure poor light never effects play. The courts were recently repainted in 2025. There is a clubhouse and the surrounding area has been designed to facilitate wheelchair access.

We are fortunate to benefit from the services of our head coach Sarah Hardie, who offers a popular all year round coaching programme for adults and juniors. For the children, our aim is to provide a fun and safe environment in which they can learn skills and tactics and develop a real love of the game before eventually progressing to tennis "proper". For the competitive player, we enter Men's and Ladies' teams in the Shropshire Inter-Club Doubles Summer League, and also have three mixed teams that take part in the Winter league. However, there is no obligation to play matches, and many members are happy to play their tennis at a social level with friends and family.

In addition, to all of the above the club also organises separate events throughout the year. These can be as varied as an introduction to Pickle Ball or the very popular PizzaBox Tennis Fridays – where a friendly tennis tournament is combined with pizza from our local wood fired Pizza Box.
