Mini Tennis

We run the LTA Youth Programme at BTC.  Courses for children aged 4 – 11, packed full of fun games and dynamic training.

Blue Stage - Learn the basics - age 4-6.

Red Stage - Serve rally & score - age 6-8.

Orange Stage - Develop a rounded game - age 8-9.

Green Stage - Test your skills - age 9-10.

All are fun; each has its own court size and type of ball. Techniques and tactics are as for the full game. This tailored approach enables players to develop vital skills and techniques at an early age.

Mini Tennis - Blue
For players 4 - 6 years old.
Each course will consist of balance, coordination, agility, movement, sending skills (hitting, throwing, rolling) and receiving skills (along the floor and bouncing).
The course will also get the child used to a tennis coaching session, taking turns, working with a partner (or parent), watching a demonstration and copying it, being aware of their surroundings.
A great outdoors activity for child and parent.

Mini Tennis - Red
For players 6 - 8 years old.
Played on a badminton size court.
Sessions will include a warm up, ball skills, racket & ball skills, striking the ball (forehands, backhands, serves, returns and volleys), receiving the ball, points & scoring, fun matches and games.

Mini Tennis - Orange
For players 8 - 9 years old.
Players may have progressed from mini tennis red or be new to the game.
All the technique and tactics of the full game.
Played with 50% low compression balls.

Mini Tennis - Green
For players  9 - 10 years old.
Played on a full court with 75% low compression balls.
The court is big now and the physicality of the game is increasing.
Players should have an all round game including being able to serve, return, trade, approach & volley and hit passing shots. They should have and be developing game situations that help them win points eg serve out wide and then aim for space.
