Code of Conduct
- Members should at all times endeavour to be polite to other members and visitors. A complaints procedure covers action where a member or visitor has cause for dissatisfaction.
- Members should publicise positive aspects of the Club wherever possible and not criticise or pass any adverse comments to non-members. Visitors and prospective members should be able to take away positive experiences to enhance the reputation of the Club.
- Always respect other players and avoid interference/distraction with their play, including professional coaches.
- Be positive and offer encouragement/praise to your partner and/or opponent, as appropriate.
- Good sportsmanship is expected from all members at all times. If this is not followed it can result in members being asked to leave the courts.
- If 5. is not adhered to, membership may be revoked on majority committee decision.
- If any member or non-member is subjected to or witnesses any threatening, intimidating or unsportsmanlike behaviour from members or non-members they are duty bound to report it to any person on the committee.
- Please respect the line calls of your opponent and if there is any dispute, the point must be replayed.
- Members should respect players of all sports being played in the vicinity. Please do not talk loudly or make undue noise that would disturb player/s concentration. This is particularly important during tournaments.
- Members should respect the property of the Club and must not deface, damage or destroy Club property or that of other members and visitors.
- Do not deposit chewing gum on any playing surface.
- Please report any hazardous or damaged equipment to a Committee Member as soon as possible.
- Members are responsible for their own health and safety which includes ensuring that adequate warm up exercises are carried out before play, that debris is removed from court before play, removing loose tennis balls from the court during play, being aware of weather conditions which may for example make the court surface slippery and wearing appropriate clothing.
- Footwear must be suitable for the tennis surface and should support feet and ankles to avoid injury. Shoes must be non-marking.
- All injuries must be recorded directly to the Chair of the Tennis Club, as soon as possible.
- Please leave the Courts in the state in which you would expect to find them.
- Any complaints should be raised with a Committee member, preferably in writing, as soon as possible.
