Steve Shea (Director of Tennis)

Steve (pictured above) is highly qualified and extremely experienced as both a Club Coach and Performance Coach.  He has successfully introduced hundreds of children to tennis and improved many club members' performance with his focus on technique and tactics.  Steve is an LTA Level 5 Coach, the highest qualification available, and holds all the certification required at this level, including First Aid, Safeguarding and DBS.  He also has a BA (Hons) Sport Science and Biology.  Steve has been the Hertfordshire Boys 14 and under captain for 12 years, individual coach to national champions and coached numerous county champions.

Steve is a right handed player, with a powerful one handed back hand. His favourite shot though, is the inside out forehand and Steve's racket brand of choice is Wilson, strung with Wilson Sensation.   

We asked Steve to name his favourite player; "that's easy - Roger Federer, just awesome to watch and perfect style!"

Amelia Frendo

Amelia is an LTA level 3 licensed coach and holds all the certification required including First Aid, Safeguarding and DBS. She is a highly experienced player and teaching professional with over 10 years coaching experience and 25 years playing experience. In her playing career she has travelled extensively, competing at a national and international level, and reached a junior UK highest ranking of 8 and ETA ranking of 3 in the UK.

Over the last 12 years Amelia has coached juniors and adults at a club level and has enjoyed passing on her knowledge, experience and passion for the game to other aspiring players. She is a strong believer that a hard work ethic, perseverance and resilience is what it takes to become the best possible you, talent alone will only take you so far. Amelia always tries to instil these traits whenever she coaches to ensure all players have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Amelia has a BSc in Sports, Fitness & Coaching. She is also a qualified teacher of Physical Education and has been teaching in schools for the last 5 years. Whilst teaching she has enjoyed building the provision and links to clubs for tennis at schools.

A naturally right-handed player with an impressive two-handed backhand, Amelia's favourite shot is a forehand volley and her favourite player ?... "oh it has to be Lindsay Davenport".

Charlotte Poulton

Charlotte has been part of the tennis club since 2008 and joined the coaching team in 2019.

A full time coach at multiple clubs and schools around Hertfordshire and Greater London since 2018, Charlotte is a natural right handed player and delivers a mean cross court forehand, her favourite shot. 

Favourite player? ... "the winner of this years Australian Open Ladies Singles - the awesome Naomi Osaka"

" My coaching style inspires players to work hard on improving their skills whilst having fun! I really enjoy coaching tots, mini red, adult beginners and improvers. I love being able to help players set their foundation in this fantastic sport and watch them develop their skills into well rounded tennis players".

Charlotte is a front line tennis ambassador, coaching in schools to encourage kids into tennis and join the club, whilst encouraging vital agility skills and building confidence.
