Booking Process

Registration 

As a high value item the Slinger Bag and ball supply is stored in a locked cabinet in the Tennis Pavilion for security reasons. As this cabinet locks with a key, not a combination lock, this requires those who intend to use it to go through a registration process:

  1. Send a short email to broughtontennis@gmail.com advising you wish to register
  2. Pay a Key Deposit of £10 to the Broughton & District Tennis Club account number 83452336, Sort Code 20-69-85.
  3. You will receive an email when your numbered key is ready to collect.
  4. Collect the allocated key from the notice board in the Pavilion. An envelope will be pinned there bearing your name. Note: This process has been amended from collection at the bar given the change in Stewards arrangements in early 2023.

(The Key Deposit is fully refundable, on return of the allocated key, at any time on request)

Once registration is complete bookings to use the Slinger Bag can be made.

Booking the Slinger Bag

  1. Book the Slinger Bag in the same manner that a Court is booked. The Slinger Bag has been added to the list of bookable items. Payment will be collected by card on booking. Note: the minimum booking period is 60 minutes.
  2. Book a Court for the same timeslot. Please do not book the Artificial Clay courts 4 & 5 for this, to avoid damage to the surface and potentially the Slinger Bag mechanism. It's recommended that either Court 6 or 7 are used as these are fully enclosed single courts  and will give you both some priivacy and aid collection of the balls.

Collecting & Returning the Slinger Bag

  1. Collect the Slinger Bag from the locked cabinet in the Tennis Pavillion.
  2. Disconnect the power lead before removing the Slinger Bag from the cabinet.
  3. Sign the Slinger Bag out in the log file.
  4. When your practice session is complete return the Slinger Bag to the secure cabinet.
  5. Reconnect the power lead to the Slinger Bag so as to recharge ready for the next user. Note: The power lead is set with an integral timer to deliver only 2 hours charge (maximum) before automatically disconnecting so there is no need to worry about overcharging.
  6. Complete the log file entry and add any comments necessary.

Weather

Please do not use the Slinger Bag in wet conditions as this may cause malfunction or lasting damage. If it is obvious in advance your planned and booked session is not going to go ahead due to wet weather then please cancel it via the Booking System for an automated refund back to your card.
