Sad news.
On the 1st March 2024 our Chairperson Robin London sadly passed away.
Since taking over the Chairmanship, Robin put a huge amount of time and effort into helping the Club go from strength to strength. She loved the role and did her very best to achieve the impossible, trying to please all of the members, all of the time.
Her hard work and leadership of the Committee led to the remarkable achievement of having the honour of being voted Berkshire Club of The Year and following on from this, the last year has seen improvements to the compound, much improved toilet facilities and the arrival of a defibrillator which is reassuring but hopefully never needed.
Alongside these developments, the Club has continued to run numerous teams in both the Newbury and Berkshire Leagues with considerable success. Drills continue to attract large numbers and in the Spring and Summer we continue to run three thriving Junior coaching sessions.
Only recently, Robin expressed the wish to continue as Chair. Sadly this was not to be but shows how much she enjoyed the role and wishing to continue to lead and guide the Club.
Thank you Robin for everything you did, it was much appreciated and we will endeavour to continue positively where you left off, seeking to keep a successful and friendly Tennis Club in Bucklebury.
Needless to say, our thoughts at this time go out to Jim and his three daughters at this difficult time.
