Later this week we will commence the work to install floodlights onto court 3. Initially, this will entail various contractors being on all three courts from time to time to carry out measurements & to determine where the current electrical cables lie & where the new ones will run. This initial work will be intermittent & should not interrupt play for long periods of time. For this reason it is not worth closing courts completely and we ask that you move off court should it become necessary at any time.
Once all these initial measurements have been carried out a plan will be devised for the actual physical installation work. This will involve access to courts 2 & 3 for heavy equipment, the removal of sections of the playing surface and the excavation & laying of the new supply cables. Two new pylons will be erected on court 3 & additional light displays will be added to the existing pylons on court 2. At this time we expect the work to last a week & we will take a decision closer to the time, whether to close off all three courts or to leave court 1 open.
Please follow the guidance of the contractors whenever they need access to the courts & if you have any concerns about player safety please abandon play, leave the courts and only return when it is safe to do so.
We will issue further updates as the work commences. Thanks for your patience & cooperation in this work to improve our Club.
