On Sunday 15th December, we celebrated the end of the coaching year in style with an inaugural Christmas Social & Awards session, attended by over 100 enthusiastic people. The sunny afternoon started with a Christmas-themed tennis games session for both children and parents to get involved. The games included a ‘snow ball fight’, ‘around the world’, and ‘Reindeers and Sleigh’.

The games were followed by an awards presentation in the Cambourne Sports Pavilion with food, drinks, and music. Awards were handed out for: Players of the Year (Adam Kibria and Anna Byron), most Improved Player (Johannes Kappeler), Future Stars (James Gates and Diya Menon, most Entertaining Player (Connor Ecclestone), the ‘Rafael Nadal Award’ for the most determined player (Siim Pavel), and Assistant Coach of the Year (Neha Kibria). A special ‘volunteer of the Year’ award was presented to Nigel Hillyard, who has been running the hugely popular Social Mix In tennis sessions that allow players in Cambourne to have a fun hit with others of similar ability.
