Introduction

Cardiff Lawn Tennis Club (Often referred to as The Castle Club) is a delightful picturesque tennis club in the grounds of Cardiff Castle and Bute park, in the heart of Cardiff. It has 11 pristine tennis courts, a modern clubhouse, an extensive tennis programme  and is regarded as the finest tennis club in Wales and beyond.

Cardiff Lawn Tennis Club  was founded in 1888 and was originally known as “The Racquet Club”. It was originally situated in Westgate Street but  moved to its present location in the grounds of Cardiff Castle in 1923, and in 1947 when the Marquis of Bute handed over the Castle, Bute Park and other sections of land to the citizens of Cardiff, he ensured the preservation of the tennis club by granting it a 999 year lease.
