Juniors gain vital experience at County Cup

The Channel Islands' Ladies County Cup Team headed to the UK with a team comprised of some of our most experienced players and some of our most exciting prospects.

On Day One, the Channel Islands faced a tough Cornish side, where they the lost 7-2, despite good wins for Lauren Barker and Giulia Rihoy.

Day Two saw the Channel Islands Team face Wiltshire with a slighly better result of 6-3 and wins for Jo Dyer and Triona O'Callaghan in the singles and Jo Dyer and Lauren Barker in the doubles.   Thirteen year old Chloe De La Mare made her Senior County Cup debut in a match that lasted over 2 hours, which she eventually lost 2-6, 7-5, 3-6.

On the final day, the Channel Islands recorded their best result of the weekend narrowly losing to Cumbria 5-4.  In the singles there were wins again for Jo Dyer and Triona O'Callaghan and Chloe De La Mare took her first County scalp in another match lasting over two hours.   Once again Jo Dyer and Lauren Barker provided a formidable pairing winning their doubles match, and showing how close it could have been, the final point could have been won by Lauren Coutanche and Chloe De La Mare who took their doubles to a Champions Tie Break.
