GUERNSEY TENNIS AND PADEL ANNOUNCE
NEW SPONSORSHIP WITH HISCOX
AND FIRST JUNIOR INTER-INSULAR
Guernsey Tennis and Padel (GTAP) are delighted to announce that Hiscox have become their new lead partner. The new two year sponsorship deal will be focussed on developing both sports at junior levels by encouraging more players to participate as well as funding junior teams and academies. This new injection of funding will allow the various tennis and padel clubs in Guernsey to reach more islanders and help them access two of the most fun participation sports, as well as helping our talented juniors to continue on their development pathways and allow them to compete overseas.
Hiscox, one of the UK’s largest insurance firms, has a number of synergies with tennis and padel. Their key values of “Integrity, Courage and Confidence” are all principals and key attributes required on court.
The partnership will see Hiscox become the lead sponsor of the Junior Tennis County Cup and Island Teams as well as becoming the headline sponsors for The Hiscox Island Tennis Championships. They will also sponsor the Guernsey Tennis Team for the forthcoming Island Games this summer. Away from the competitive side of the sport there will be Hiscox Try Tennis sessions and Hiscox Half Hours which will be a series of lectures to help our older juniors develop the key skills they require to take their competitive games to the next level. In padel, Hiscox will help to fund possible junior GB pathways for our most talented players whilst also supporting new junior initiatives and the expansion of our incredibly popular schools programme.
Keith Stubbington, Chair of GTAP said “We are absolutely thrilled to announce our new sponsorship agreement with Hiscox. Their support is incredibly beneficial for both tennis and padel as it will enable us to implement a number of new initiatives to help further develop our juniors in both sports. Whilst there will be a focus on supporting island teams and performance development, we will also be seeking to open up access to both sports to all teenagers on the island.”
Mike Williams, Managing Director of Hiscox said “Hiscox are looking forward to working closely with GTAP to support tennis and padel in the Baliwick. We will be creating a number initiatives to inspire and expose young people to the experts and tools that they will require, not only to improve their sporting performance on the court, but which will also equip them for life as they embark on their careers. Hiscox as a company want to ‘Encourage Courage,’ and tennis and padel give us the perfect platform to put this goal in action.”
Junior Inter-Insulars to be held this Weekend
The first junior tennis inter-insular for a number of years will be held this weekend with three teams competing. The Hiscox Guernsey Under 18 boys and girls teams will travel to Jersey to compete whilst the Hiscox Under 14 boys team will play her at the Guernsey Tennis Centre.
It is hoped this will become an annual fixture to encourage more matchplay for the players on both islands. Jo Robinson, Coach of the Guernsey Team, said “It’s really vital for our young players to be exposed to more competitive matches as they continue to progress in the sport. The Guernsey players are incredibly excited to be given the opportunity to represent their island and I know they will give everything on the court and try to bring home the trophies.”
