Successful Island Games for Channel Islands

The International Island Games saw over 80 competitors from 12 different islands decend on the Guernsey Tennis Centre for a week of competition.

Over 200 matches were played over the course of the week in Men's and Ladies' Team events, Men's and Ladies' Singles and Doubles and Mixed Doubles.   There were also plate competitions in all the individual categories.

Overall the week was a huge success with a high standard of compeition across the whole week.   Jersey picked up Gold Medals in both the Men's and Ladies' Team events as well as in the Men's Singles where Stuart Parker proved too strong for the rest of the field.   

Guernsey's Lauren Watson-Steele brought home the Ladies' singles gold beating Channel Island rival Tash Forrest into silver medal position in a close and noisy final in front a a huge crowd of home spectators.   Lauren then teamed up with good friend Lauren Barker to win the silver medal in the Ladies' Doubles beating the Isle of Man's pair in a Match Tie Break. 

There was another silver medal for Guernsey in the Mixed Doubles with 2019 Champions Rob West and Jo Dyer edged out int the final match of the tournament.

There were a handful of bronze medals for the Channel Islands as well with Jersey winning two in the Ladies' Doubles whilst Guernsey also took home bronze in the Ladies' Team Event.
