Chiddingstone Mens Doubles Tournament (held on Saturday July 30th )

At 10am on Saturday July 30th , Chiddginstones finest athletes assembled at the courts for the mens doubles competition. Conditions were perfect and a large crowd had gathered to watch events unfold. Eight teams of two (actually there was one team of three) battled it out under the intense heat to see who would make it through to the final. After nearly 2 hours of the highest qulaity tennis, Jeremy Leathers (the reigning champion together with John Glendinning made it through to face Calum Glendinning and Neil Hudd. In the end, Calum and Neil were no match for Jeremy`s athleticism combined with JG`s guile, who won the final set 6-4. Congratulations to them both and Jeremy retains his crown .

Chiddingstones' Mixed Doubles Tournament Match Report 2022 (held on Sunday 22nd May)

This year’s Chiddingstones’ Tennis Club "Mixed Doubles Trophy” is awarded to Jacqi Adkins and Mark Buisseret

This year`s mixed doubles tournament was held on Sunday (May 22nd) and the weather was glorious, as was the tennis. Ten mixed doubles teams battled it out over 4 gruelling hours in scorching sunshine to challenge for a place in the semi finals.  The elite couples that made it through were Mark and Jacqi, Ceri and Rachel, Dai and Amanda, Sue and Kevin.

By 2pm the final had been decided and last years winner Sue and her trusty partner, Kevin would be facing Mark and Jacqi.

In the end Jacqi`s court craft and genius use of the call "Yours!", coupled with Mark scampering around the base line proved too much but it did go to the wire, despite Mark randomly declaring victory half way through the match.  They were worth winners of  the mixed duobles paque and (almost life-changing) prizes

Congratulations to all who took part and made it yet another memorable day. also big thanks to tournament organiser Simon Butler for all his hard work and for the sumptious spread he laid on in the fan zone.

Also big thanks to the Leathers for the generous use of their court.
