Lost Property!

Many Thanks go to the committee members and others who have helped with the maintenance of the courts over the last couple of weeks. The chalet has been tidied and treated and the shed has been tidied (for a new arrival!!!) The grounds have been weedkilled and strimmed but there are many more things to do if you have a few spare minutes at the club! We are opening the chalet to players and visitors but must ask you to take care regarding Covid transmission. There has been a case of a spectator passing Covid onto a player at one of our fixtures in South Derbyshire so with this in mind could you please look at just having one person in the chalet at a time and maintaining social distancing at all times. If you are playing a match please travel alone or with your 'bubble'. Thank You!

Looking ahead you will be receiving a message regarding the Club Championships in the near future. It will be run on the same basis as last year where you enter, go into a draw and you arrange your own matches ready for a finals day probably on the last Sunday in September. Please keep an eye out for this email over the next few weeks.

The picture is of some of the Lost Property left at the club. Please take a look in the chalet at the Lost Property Box and retreive anything you may have lost. It will be cleared out and donated to charity in a few weeks!!!

We are losing tennis balls that have been used for matches, Usually they are put into the chalet in the Drawer or a specially labelled bin; if you play a fixture please make sure they are put in there so we will have enough for social tennis and coaching over the winter. Whilst we are on the subject of matches and fixtures, thank you very much to those of you who have taken gate-locking responsibility, it seems to be working OK at the moment.

Finally good news of one of our members. Casey Mauro who took part in the Tennis Europe 12U Junior International at Halton Tennis Club from the 13th July until 18th July. She had to come through two rounds of qualifying and managed to do so by winning both those matches in straight sets. Unfortunately, though playing well, she lost in the first round of the main draw putting her into the consolation draw where she had to play the number 2 ranked player in the country in the first round.  Casey won that match in straight sets, and went on to win the semifinals too, booking her a place in the final against a fellow Derbyshire player Tia Dhillon. Inevitably as they know each other really well it proved to be a tense match that Casey won 6-1, 2-6, 10-4. She then backed that up two days later by winning three matches at the Radlett 14U grade 4 to win the event without losing a set. Well Done Casey!
