INTRODUCING OUR COACHES

Hello! I'm Ceire Mullins, Head Coach of Church Broughton Tennis Club.

We are very lucky to have such a fantastic group of coaches at the club! 

I'd love to introduce you to them...

CLUB COACHES 

Jane Rushby - Jane is a Derbyshire legend both as a player and a coach! She has Derbyshire at each age group from junior through to veterans & has made over 100 appearances for the senior team. Jane has competed for GB in a number of ages groups and has competed around the World. When it comes to Church Broughton, Jane has played a pivotal role in the development of the club. Jane started going into Church Broughton Primary School many years ago and that resulted in a wave of players competing on the one court in the village. The demand got so high that we needed more courts - and that helped inspire the move to our current site. Brilliant work Jane!

Ellen Taylor - Ellen is currently combining her coaching with her studies at the University of Derby. Yet despite being one of the younger members of our coaching crew, she has been a member at Church Broughton for around 15 years! From attending our coaching programmes, Ellen graduated to being a helper and now a Coach. Ellen is extremely passionate about getting more girls and women to play our brilliant game and recently organised an amazing She Rallies Day at the club. Ellen was also an Assistant Captain of the Derbyshire 9U team at the 2022 County Cup.

Becky Williams - Becky has been coaching at Church Broughton for a number of years but we are very excited that she recently left the world of teaching to become a full time coach! The world of education's loss is most definitely tennis's gain! Becky brings a combination of enthusiasm, passion and tactical know how to the sessions she leads along with a great sense of fun! Becky has competed at County Level for Derbyshire and is an important member of our title winning ladies and mixed teams. Becky has recently become a member of the Derbyshire County Training team.

Rob Salmon - Rob passionately believes that no matter what your age tennis can bring you happiness, life skills and friendship. As a player he represented Derbyshire as a junior and went to play college tennis in America. He's also been Chair of Derbyshire Tennis Association and won seniors titles at the Derbyshire Closed. Rob has three children - Phoebe, Stanley and Ned - who all enjoy tennis. Rob has managed County Junior Teams and coached at County Training. During the lockdown he started the My Tennis Journey tennis podcast - which has appeared in the podcast charts from Australia to Hong Kong and Turkey! The podcast aims to bring compelling tennis journeys to life. 

Tom Rushby - Tom has played at the top level when he partnered Andy Murray to the semi final of Junior Wimbledon - now he is coaching at the top level! It is brilliant to see Tom working with some of the best players in the county, region and country! So inspiring to see the level of the players Tom is working with! Tom played on Tour and if you ever get the chance, do ask him about the time he beat Rafa at doubles. Enough said!

ASSISTANT CLUB COACH

Jakob Clarke - Tennis is Jakob's passion and it has been great to welcome Jakob to our coaching team. Always enthusiastic, Jakob brings a fun filled approach to the sessions he coaches in. It has also been great to see Jakob delivering sessions at John of Rolleston Primary School which recently came National Runner-Up in the LTA School of the Year Award.

HEAD COACH

That's me, Ceire Mullins! As a junior I played for GB at tennis. I went on a tennis scholarship to an American university and have also played ITF Tournaments. In addition to my ongoing passion for tennis, I am also very passionate about padel. I have competed for Ireland as an International Padel Player. Coaching at Church Broughton gives me the opportunity to bring my passion for tennis and padel to the classes I teach. * Some are away at uni, but we love how they gravitate back to the club for the holiday's. It's always good to see them.
