This years club championships finals day took place on Sunday 18th October.

The aim of the club championships in 2020 was to engage more people into competing and to host a festival of tennis for our finals day. With COVID restrictions in place we were not able to host the festival of tennis we had hoped for but with great weather we were able to run a fantastic day of finals with 20 matches taking place on our 4 new fantastic artificial clay courts.

This years championships included events for the open age group, over 50s, 18U's as well as a social event for non team players to get stuck into. Most draws also included a plate event for player who lost in the first round of their event. Rhys and Julie Hanger who run the coaching team have led the tournament throughout the season and managed to keep all draws on track with matches completed by their play by dates, and hosted a well organised and fun finals day.

Throughout the day, the club served, cakes, tea and coffee for members and family friends who came to watch, whilst adhering to the LTA guidelines and social distancing. We thank all those that made cakes and gave up time to serve behind the kitchen, and to everyone who supported on the day. We also give a massive thank you to everyone who competed on the day and provided such great emtertainment.

There were many amazing matches, and a special mention goes to Gilles Velcin winning the mens open singles, mens open doubles and the mixed open titles this year, and whilst there were many close matches on the day one of the closest ones we saw was the social mixed doubles final seeing David Hall and Liz Roberts beating Chris Youngman and Dolly Entecott in a 3rd set tie break...an epic battle! It was also great to see a junior event back at the championships with many of the adult members wanting to watch out up and coming team players of the future, Well done to Oscar Weston and Jared De Klerk for putting on a great match.
