CORSLEY TENNIS CLUB SAFEGUARDING POLICY STATEMENT

Corsley Tennis Club is committed to prioritising the well-being of children and adults at risk and to providing a safe and welcoming environment where they are respected and valued.

 We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children and adults at risk will receive effective support and protection.

The policy applies to any person who plays, coaches, officiates, works or volunteers at our venue.

The policy strives to minimise risk, deliver a positive tennis experience for everyone and respond appropriately to all safeguarding concerns. It is in line with statutory and LTA guidance.

The purpose of the policy is to: 

  • Protect children and adults at risk, from harm 
  • Provide the necessary information to enable people to meet their safeguarding responsibilities 
  • Deliver good practice and high safeguarding standards 

WE RECOGNISE THAT

  • the safety and welfare of children and adults at risk is paramount and all have an equal right to protection from all types of harm or abuse
  • safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility
  • all safeguarding concerns or allegations need to be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately

WE WILL SEEK TO KEEP CHILDREN AND ADULTS AT RISK SAFE BY

  • appointing a Welfare Officer with responsibility for safeguarding in our venue
  • safely recruiting and selecting coaches and volunteers
  • ensuring everyone understands that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility
  • providing appropriate learning opportunities to recognise, identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns, so that safeguarding responsibilities can be met
  • ensuring robust safeguarding arrangements are in place for coaching, social activities and social media
  • promoting and maintaining a positive safeguarding culture where people feel able and know how to raise a concern and are confident that they will be taken seriously 
  • ensuring appropriate action is taken in the event of concerns/incidents of abuse.

The Club’s safeguarding policy will be reviewed every 3 years or sooner as required.
