Our terms and conditions

Membership 2024

All members are subject to the constitution of the club and the regulations of the national governing body of the sport.  

a) The membership year runs from 15 April to 14th April.

b) Membership of the club is open to all individuals provided they comply with this constitution and the rules of the club.

Non-compliance can result in an informal warning, written warning or suspension of membership, depending on the nature of the offence, by the club’s management committee.

In the unlikely event this should happen, the member subject to proposed removal from the club has the right to appeal. The appeal will be heard by the club’s Conduct Sub-group, who will make a judgement.

c) All applications for membership will be accompanied by the appropriate current, membership fee.

d) No person will be refused membership on the grounds of age, being or becoming a transsexual person, being married or in a civil partnership, being pregnant or on maternity leave, disability, race (including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin), religion, belief or lack of religion/belief, sex or sexual orientation.

e) Members will be enrolled in one of the following categories:

   i) Adult (18 years and over)

   ii) Intermediate (16 years to 17 years)

   iii) Junior (5 years to 15 years) - It is recommended (in line with LTA guidance) that all junior players under 13 years of age should 

be accompanied by an appropriate adult member when at the club.

   iv) Family

   v) Honorary (See below)

   vi) Guardian (16 years and over)

   vii) Adult visitor (16 years and over)

   viii) Junior visitor (5 years to 15 years) - It is recommended (in line with LTA guidance) that all junior players under 13 years of age should 

be accompanied by an appropriate adult member when at the club.

f) Fully paid-up adult, intermediate and honorary members will be entitled to attend and vote at all General Meetings.

g) Fully paid-up adult, intermediate and honorary members may be elected and serve on Dalkeith Lawn Tennis Club Management Committee (hereinafter referred to as the 'management committee').

h) The management committee will have power to admit, from time to time, as honorary members, persons who have rendered valuable service to the club. They will be entitled to the same benefits as all fully paid up adult members, but at no cost to them, for the rest of their lives.

DLTC can refuse or revoke membership on non-discriminatory grounds, where the membership, or continued membership, of the person concerned would be likely to not be in the best interests of the sport or the good conduct and interests of the club.

On joining or renewing their membership, all members agree to the following:

  • Being bound by the club’s constitution, rules and policies and following the club’s guidelines when on club premises or when representing the club at other venues
  • Absolving the club of responsibility for personal injury when using the club’s facilities or volunteering for maintenance and development tasks 
  • Absolving the club of responsibility for loss of personal property
  • Allowing themselves to appear in photographs of the club’s activities that may be used for the promotion of the club - they can request that their image is not published
  • If selected to play in a club team, that they agree to their email address and phone number(s) being shared with other members of their team.

Playing Guidelines

  • Appropriate flat sole footwear should be worn at all times on court.
  • After play please use the drag mats and brush the lines
  • Only deploy curtain screening if absolutely necessary
  • After play ensure curtain screening is retracted
