Court Cleaning & Painting brings a new polish to The Club
The Committee has had in mind for several months, the idea to give our 6 main courts a facelift, complete with a full clean and re-painting of the courts, surrounding ground and lines. In addition, 2 nets have been broken recently, so it was decided to invest in a new set of nets and to put them up at the same time, to give the courts a new looking complexion.
The work was done over two weeks, 3 courts per week, then, this weekend just gone, a group of members and volunteers met at the club to install the new nets and do some groundwork around the perimiter of the courts. This consisted of mowing the grass verge to the side of the courts, de-weeding around the back of courts 1-3, cutting down the overhanging tree branches on some of the court fences, and tidying up the edges of the courts.
It took a good couple of hours for the work to be completed, including a tea and biscuit break in between, but at the end of the afternoon there was a marked difference in the look of the courts that all were left very satisfied with.
The afternoon was finished with some social tennis on the bright, new courts. A big thank you goes to all who gave up of their time to help out. There are still a few smaller jobs left to do which can be done at a later date, but hopefully all members will agree that the new look of the club is very pleasant.
