The tennis courts at Devonport Park are having a facelift!
To prepare for the new summer season, the courts at Devonport Park are being professionally cleaned, re-painted, as well as having brand new nets!
The courts at Devonport Park are public tennis courts and free to use all year. Anyone can also take part in Free Coach-Led sessions at Devonport Park on Saturday afternoons from 2.30-4.30pm (5+). Plymouth City Council offer Mini Tennis coaching on Thursdays from 4-5pm (5-10 year olds); which is being delivered at Devonport Park for free.
Other coaching sessions which will be run at Devonport Park are:
~ Tennis Tuesdays which will start in May, aimed at improver and intermediate level adult female players.
~ The Davis Cup Legacy Programme for new beginner junior players. This is a chance to get involved with this programme which will be run at the Park. All children who complete the 6 week course will receive a free racket! Starting in June, places will be limited and course booking will be available soon.
All current coaching sessions are run by a qualified LTA coach, and the new sessions will be run by Plymouth City Council’s new Tennis Development Apprentice, Katherine Bell.
Plymouth City Council’s Sports Development Unit is working with the Lawn Tennis Association to put on a tennis event in the Piazza on Saturday 7th May promoting tennis opportunities within the City.
