COVID-19 update and Doubles play

Fairford Tennis Club

COVID-19 RULES [approved by the Committee]

The following additional Rules have been approved by the Committee and are based on the LTA guidance, taking account of the particular circumstances at Fairford Tennis Club.  The objective of these rules is to minimize the risk of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) through tennis playing or coaching activity or associated social contacts.

1. Membership and Booking

You need to join or renew your Membership online via ClubSpark on our website (https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/FairfordTennisClub/Membership/Join).  Once payment has been received you will receive a code that allows you entry to the courts. You must book online (maximum one hour, with no ‘block’ booking) and cannot just show up.  In order to monitor numbers and maximise safe practice we are currently allowing only one court to be used at a time. Club members only, no visitors are allowed on the courts.

2. Club Hut and Hygiene

The Club hut and toilet will remain shut and out of bounds.  We ask you to bring your own hand sanitiser, which you should use before and after play, although we will endeavor to make some available for emergencies.  It is also recommended you bring your own water bottle.  Keep people, clothing etc well away from those of previous/following group’s (‘social distancing rules’).  It is recommended that you DON’T use the table/bench in front of the hut.  Please take your rubbish home with you.

3. Children and Parents attending with them

In order to minimise risks of virus transmission (including asymptomatic) children under 14 are not allowed to play on the courts unsupervised.  A responsible adult (18 or over) from the same household may attend and must remain present throughout the time when children under 14 are on the site.  Gate codes must not be given to children under 14 to use independently.  As stated under Club Hut and Hygiene, they should ensure ‘social distancing’ from members of other groups and households is maintained and are recommended NOT to use the table/bench in front of the hut.  (It is suggested you bring your own picnic chair or similar if you want to sit down.)

4. Change-overs and Leaving the Site

Please do not turn up early, and do aim to complete your game and leave promptly by the end of your booked time slot. If you are the last person leaving the site you must lock the gate(s) (to prevent unauthorized persons entering and potentially causing contamination, theft or other harm). Remember to use hand sanitizer when you finish and wash hands when you return home.

5. Rules of Play

Please bring your own marked balls, which you should use when you serve, and take them home with you.  If possible, avoid hand contact with balls belonging to others – hit or kick them back.  Doubles and singles play are now allowed.. Do not shake hands, hug (or whatever). and you may want to avoid changing ends – alternatively, change at opposite ends of the net. The nets will be set at the correct height so please don’t adjust them.  Play will only be allowed in daylight hours.

6. Coaching

Andy will be available for coaching of individuals and family groups. ‘Social distancing’ must be maintained.  Andy will be responsible for booking the Court.
