REPORT
Well, what can I say? What an amazing weekend down at the club, possibly one of the biggest and best events we have ever held! We had over 80 people playing tennis, at our first ever Family Cup tournament, ranging from 5 yrs old thru to 60 yrs old - just brilliant. Over 70 tennis matches were played, and with everyone adhering to the strict time schedule, made my life a lot easier! It would be impossible to list everyone that I want to thank, but a few stand out thank you's need to be addressed. Firstly a MASSIVE big thank you to Debbie and all her team at Cura Accounting for being the headline sponsors, and with their generosity we were able to purchase lots of sparkly sliver trophies for the winners of each event, plus various trophies for 'great efforts', plus a shiny gold medal for everyone who played, so again thank you Debbie and the Cura team! I would also like to thank my group of helpers Darrell, Joy and Alex F who volunteered to help me right back at the beginning of all this, several months ago and I am truly grateful for all of your help. I would also like to thank everyone who brought something to the homemade goodies/m&s table, and in particular Darrell, who made an amazing amount of cakes and brownies. Thank you to everyone who made a donation to the club over the weekend (I haven't totted it all up yet). Thanks to Alex F for writing the fabulous reports for the Bury Times. Thanks to Danielle for being my right hand woman and for putting up with my bossiness! Thank you to all the volunteers who came down on Saturday for a couple of hours to help set up. One of the biggest thank you's is to each and every person who came along to watch and support their teams in action - with nearly every pairing bringing some support there was probably around 150 people there on Saturday - amazing!! And I think my final thank you goes to Mr Sunshine who played out very nicely for us for 48 hours! There was some brilliant tennis on display, with some very closely contested matches, where I believe one match in particular in the red ball event between the Allisons and the Bescobys drew in a rather large, heckling crowd to witness a 32-31 win to the Allisons! Finals day today couldnt have gone any better and a massive well done to all our winners!!
