Club Byelaws/Rules

To the Clubhouse

  • The access code for the Clubhouse is available to all members age 16 and above
  • If you believe you are the last member age 16+ to leave please ensure the windows are securely fastened, the doors locked, and the combination has been ‘scrambled’
  • Please respect all furniture, fixtures and fittings and equipment
  • Please keep all areas tidy and report anything you feel may be hazardous to a Committee Member or coach.
  • During cold weather please ensure the external doors are not left open
  • Dogs are not permitted on the premises with the exception of assistance dogs. No dogs are allowed on courts.
  • Bikes are not allowed in the Clubhouse.
  • A no smoking policy operates within the Clubhouse and Club premises.

To the Courts

  • Court keys are available to all members aged 16 and above. If you believe you are the last to leave the court, please ensure the net is lowered and the gates are locked
  • When raising the net, please do not use undue force on the handle which will put excessive tension on the net posts. This could damage the foundation supporting the net posts. Adjust the centre tape.
  • Do not take glass bottles on to the court.
  • Chewing gum should not be taken on to the court and should be disposed of responsibly.
  • Bikes, pushchairs, and anything likely to damage the surface should not be taken on to the courts. Wheelchairs are allowed.
  • For your safety, please respond to any notices made by the Committee.
  • Please report anything you consider hazardous to a member of the Committee or coach.
  • Do not open the gates on to a court where play is in progress.
  • Do not walk across the back of a court when play is in progress.
  • Do not attempt to retrieve a ball from another court when play is in progress.
  • When booking a court, consecutive sessions are not allowed. This does not apply to the coaches.
  • When a court is booked by a member, it is that member’s responsibility to effect cancellation if required.

To the Members

  • Members may introduce a guest to the Club, subject to a maximum of five visits in any one calendar year, and after payment of a fee as advertised on the visitor’s book which must be signed by the member and the visitor.
  • Members are obliged to inform the Membership Secretary of any change of address as soon as possible.
  • The Club is open to the public for play on payment of the hourly fee as advertised on the website.
  • All players must wear tennis shoes when on court, together with recognised clothing appropriate for the game of tennis.
  • Members are expected to observe the highest of common courtesies both on court and within the Clubhouse.
