History of the Club
The Haywards Heath Tennis Club (HHTC) is one of the oldest in West Sussex, with a reputation for being a friendly club that offers players of all standards a warm welcome.
Newspaper articles in The Mid Sussex Times (The Middy), reveal that the club was originally called Haywards Heath Lawn Tennis Club and was newly formed in 1898, with a William Fry giving use of his garden at Ellensleigh, Boltro Rd, for the club until somewhere more permanent could be found.
The club asked for the provision of courts in Victoria Park in 1909 and began using them in 1910 on the same location as today. In 1938, one of the courts was converted into a hard court, to enable year-round play with the remaining two courts becoming hard courts at a later date.

The Club has three tennis courts located in Victoria Park, Haywards Heath, and three tennis courts in St John's Park, Burgess Hill. These are managed by Mid Sussex District Council.
There are weekend & weekday club sessions providing opportunities for all members to play.
