BRIEF HISTORY: The HSRC management committee was formed in 1996, when the founder Meg Slade asked the village community if they would like to build a tennis court on the recreation field. The idea was met favourably by the village and the parish council, and the project grew to encompass other sports (basketball, netball and football). The courts were funded through village fundraising events along with grants from Sport England and Wiltshire Council Area Board. The first court was built in 2000, and a second built similarly in 2015 given strong demand. The courts are now self-supporting with bookings.
