Court 1 Resurfacing complete & re-opened for use

**Update November 2025

We are pleased to report that the resurfacing of Court 1 is now complete with a dual-coloured tennis court and the reinstatement of lines for netball and five a side football. We have also added 2 new sets of pickleball lines (outside of the tennis area).

This enhanced facility has been made possible by generous grant funding from Sport England under their “Movement Fund” programme.

Court 1 Resurfacing

Work commenced on Court 1 on 4th September with the old kerb edging being removed and raised with concrete to the new surface height. This was followed by spiking the existing court surface to allow for drainage. From 16-19 September the new porous tarmac surface was laid and rolled and edgings made good around the court. Throughout this period the unsettled weather made for uncertain working conditions although the work was all completed to schedule.

The new tarmac has to be left (to cure) for around 3 weeks before the top surface colour coating can be applied. If the weather stays mild, dry and still (not windy) this could take place from 10th October followed by painting new line markings. This would enable completion and re-use of court 1 by the end of October, as planned.

The weather is the deciding factor in this and if it turns cold, wet and windy then we will have the current black tarmac surface with temporary tennis lines over the winter. The surface will be completely useable but we will have to wait until Spring 2026 for the new two-colour surface to be applied with full coloured line markings. Fingers crossed we get fine weather in early October to allow us to enjoy the new court fully this year!
