Welcome to Horsell Tennis Club

A new era for coaching at Horsell Tennis Club!

Horsell Tennis Club

Horsell Tennis Club is a community-rooted, not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers. We exist to make tennis fun, friendly, and accessible for all Horsell Village residents. From subsidised junior coaching to inclusive adult sessions, we support players of every age and ability through our professional LTA-accredited coaching team. With social events, tournaments, and a welcoming atmosphere, we’re more than just a place to play - we’re where Horsell comes together.

Horsell Tennis Club was established in the late 1950's - some of today's members joined back in 1968! The early history of the club is focused around the owner of Benstead's Garage in the village, who was a Woking councillor. He persuaded the council to set up the recreation area - which included one tennis court - in the area known as Benstead's folly. We understand the tennis club itself was started by John Farmer and Frances Medlam along with several others, including Fred and June Dodd. The key to the court was held at a grocery store that used to be next to the Crown pub, and later at a house further towards the village shops.

Today we have over 1100 members, half of whom are under 16, so we hope we are an encouragement to the local youngsters.

In April 2017 Horsell Tennis Club became a Registered Venue of the LTA/British Tennis.  This entitles all HTC members to free 'Lite Membership' of the LTA/British Tennis and access to benefits, which include the Wimbledon Ballot.  Membership is not automatic and you will need to reapply each year directly with the LTA/British Tennis - find out more at: www.lta.org.uk/NewMembership
