Policies

Having a safe environment is very important to everyone at Isla Hignett coaching Camps. To allow a safe environment, there are policies that are put in place. If these policies are not followed then it will cause an unsafe environment.

A register will be taken every morning and afternoon to make sure all the coaches know who are attending the camps. If a child is registered to come but doesn't show up we will follow this up with the parent or guardian or signed them up to the camp and if they haven't told us a reason to them not coming then will we take action to make sure the child is safe.

All of the coaches at the camp have to have a DBS certificate to be able to work at the camp, the main coaches will all be first aid trained if not all the coaches on site,  all the coaches have played/worked in a tennis environment before, most if not all coaches have done safeguarding training. By these policies being in place it allows the camp to run under a safe setting. Also, every morning the main coach on the day, who will be either Isla Hignett, Freya Davies or Jasmin Bromilow will run a risk assessment. This happens daily to allow a safe environment.

We hope no child would get injured at our camp however your child may fall over during the day and get a graze for example. If this happened we would make sure the child isn't hurt too badly,  go by the acronym of RICE if necessary (rest, ice, compression, elevate), and write down the injury/accident in the accident report book which will be provided by Isla Hignett. This will be present at the camp all day everyday. Any minor incident - to serious incident will be written in this book. This is so we can keep a record and show the parent what happened so they are aware and don't leave confused as to why their child has a plaster on their leg. The parent or guardian will then be asked to sign the accident report form at the end of the day to confirm they are aware of whats happened.

Furthermore, there is a NO-NUT policy at the camp so we please ask that you do not pack nuts within packed lunches.  This will help avoid any allergic reactions. If your child is allergic to any food please make sure you make Isla Hignett aware and sign the medical form which is attached when you book onto the camp.

We do not tolerate bullying at ours camps. Negativity towards others is not permitted, we want everyone to come to the camps and feel at ease. If your child feels uncomfortable, upset or targeted at any point they must speak to one of the coaches and this will be dealt with immediately. Everyone and anyone is welcome to the camp. Anyone who isn't welcoming to the others will have consequences and may be asked to be picked up from the camp and leave with no refund given.

At the camp, the tennis court and MUGA (astro pitch) are the facilities we will mainly be using. These are located at the back of the school. No child is allowed to leave these spaces without an adult at any time! If they would like to use the toilet or fill up water bottles one of the coaches will take them and make sure they get there safe and get back safe.

The weather isn't always predictable, hopefully the weather will be sunny. If it is sunny children must wear sun cream, bring hats and have lots of water. During hot temperatures we will aim to be in the shade as much as possible. If the weather is bad and inhibits outdoor activity the camp will be held in the sports hall. If you want to bring spare clothes for your child in case they get wet please feel free too. We will do our best to make sure they don't get soaked! There will be lots of water breaks during the day to keep hydration levels up. Throughout the day we will have a break in the morning and afternoon aswell as an allocated lunchtime period.
