We are looking for volunteers to help out at our LTA Free Parks Tennis sessions too, if you are interested in volunteering please contact us here. This is to help faciliate Free play sessions on a Sunday morning 10-11am across the borough and help create communities on the courts, no previous tennis experience required-just a love for community!

At John Innes Rec, there are four tarmac tennis courts that were renovated in October 2023. The courts are located near the car park and pavilion - behind some trees. John Innes Park and Recreation Ground is located in Merton Park 2km north west of Morden town centre. There is an entrance to the park on Mostyn Road and to the recreation ground on Cannon Hill Road.
These tennis courts have recently undergone refurbishment to fully resurface and improve the quality of these facilities.It’s part of a nationwide project following investment by the UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation, delivered by the LTA, to refurbish public tennis courts across Great Britain.
Booking information
- Bookings can be made 7 days in advance of the day of booking. The next day of court bookings will be released at 22:00 for the next day..
- Individuals can only book a court for 60 mins each day on, and are restricted to one booking per day at all Tennis in Merton sites minus Wimbledon Park where it is 120 mins.
- Any coaching on park courts not provided by Tennis in Merton are breaking the court booking terms of use, and if the court booker (whether the coach or the coachee) is found to be coaching or accepting coaching, they will be banned on Tennis in Merton’s Clubspark pages and their user profile deleted. The booking entitlement will be banned for a 6 month period across all of the Tennis in Merton sites in the borough.
- If you are coaching in the borough and wish to apply to be part of the Tennis in Merton team, please email: bookings@tennisinmerton.co.uk with a CV and cover letter with a brief background of the venues you would initially want to be coaching at.
Booking assistance
- Checking the booking on the calendar, printing your booking confirmation or having it on your mobile phone is helpful proof when attending the venue.
- If you don’t have internet access you can use a computer at a local library to book
