Joseph Hood Recreation Ground

Joseph Hood Recreation Ground (not to be confused with Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Playing Fields) is 8.5 hectares in size and is in Cannon Hill ward.

There are two blocks of tennis courts on this site. 

1) The first block contains courts 1-3, these are full size tarmac macadam Tennis courts.

2) The second block contains courts 4-5 which are full size tarmac macadam tennis courts , and courts 6-7 which are two mini tennis courts.

These tennis courts have recently undergone refurbishment to fully resurface and improve the quality of these facilities.It’s part of a nationwide project following investment by the UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation, delivered by the LTA, to refurbish public tennis courts across Great Britain.

Booking information

• Bookings can be made 7 days in advance of the day of booking. The next day of court bookings will be released at 00:00 for the next day..
•  Individuals can only book a court for 60 mins each day on, and are restricted to one booking per day at all Tennis in Merton sites minus Wimbledon Park where it is 120 mins.
• Any coaching on park courts not provided by Tennis in Merton are breaking the court booking terms of use, and if the court booker (whether the coach or the coachee) is found to be coaching or accepting coaching, they will be banned on Tennis in Merton’s Clubspark pages and their user profile deleted. The booking entitlement will be banned for a 6 month period across all of the Tennis in Merton sites in the borough.

Booking assistance

• Checking the booking on the calendar, printing your booking confirmation or having it on your mobile phone is helpful proof when attending the venue.
•  If you don’t have internet access you can use a computer at a local library to book. If you can’t use the booking website / ClubSpark Booker app or visit a library, ring 020 8050 7568 for further help.
