Meet the coach

 Abbie Cunningham

"Often the hardest part is just turning up!"

Based in Bath with her family, this summer, she’s excited to bring fresh energy and fun back to the courts in Keynsham, working with Wesport to promote community, movement, and connection through tennis. In this new chapter, Abbie is focused on creating inclusive, sociable sessions for people looking to learn or develop their skills in a friendly, supportive environment.

Abbie’s tennis experience uniquely includes playing, coaching, line-judging, and umpiring at all levels from club, county, regional, national to international.

She has a wealth of playing experience. Starting as a junior, she was a UK junior tour player. She captained and won the British Schools Abadere cup and was ranked top 10 nationally throughout the age groups. She was able to obtain a full tennis scholarship to a U.S university and played at an all-collegiate level. Abbie has also been Chair of Loughborough University Tennis Club and a player for 1st and 2nd teams. At 15 years old, she began officiating at Wimbledon and officiated the Wimbledon Women’s Final in 2006. She has gone on to officiate at national and international events, including ATP wheelchair tennis tournaments and the UK Deaf Championships.

She is looking forward to meeting as many players as possible on court across all ages and abilities. Any questions, please get in touch with Wesport – tennis@wesport.org.uk
