WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR CLUB - (click HERE for downloadable version)
When is club night?
For the most up to date information on what is happening when, please look at the Booking page of the website. A typical week will include:
Monday: Adult coaching
Tuesday: Club night
Wednesday: Match practice
Thursday: Rusty Rackets
Friday: League matches
Saturday: Junior pay and play coaching (in the morning)
Match practice (in the afternoon)
What else goes on?
In addition to these sessions, members book courts for arranged doubles, singles and ladder matches; something you will soon be able to join in with as you meet people. There are a few WhatsApp groups where players of a similar standard get together to organize games and new members are encouraged to join in with these. Please contact info@kingstennis.co.uk if you would like to join any of these groups.
How do I book a court?
You can book a court via the Booking page of the website or by using the “Booker” app which you can download on your phone. You need to be registered with ClubSpark to book (which all members should be) if not you can join here https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/Account/SignUp?source=ch
U14 junior members will need to ask their parent to book for them. There is a bit of a trick to booking for an U14 member which is explained here. If you have any problems please email info@kingstennis.co.uk.
NB: Members may make up to 2 bookings in any rolling 7-day period (maximum duration of a session is 1.5 hours).
Is coaching available?
Yes, individual and group coaching is available for both adults and juniors. Members benefit from reduced rates. Please contact Elly for more information - https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/EllyShearmanCoaching / ellytennis.kings@hotmail.com / 07581 237260
Does the club provide balls?
We do not officially provide balls but used match balls are put in the Clubhouse and you are welcome to use these when available. These are also the balls for Wednesday match practice and Tuesday club play. When you have finished please put them back in the tube with the cap on (especially important as without it they will lose pressure) and leave them back in the Clubhouse.
Can I play in the league?
We are always delighted to welcome new league players. Please email our Membership Secretary, Camilla Pond at membership@kingstennis.co.uk.
How do I get into the courts?
The gate code changes annually and is the same code for both gates. Please close the gate behind you. All members should know the code. If you have any problems please email info@kingstennis.co.uk.
How do I get a key to the clubhouse?
If you would like a key, please contact one of the committee members on the Contact page of the website or email info@kingstennis.co.uk. Keys are available to all members over 18 years on payment of a deposit of £10, which is refunded when the key is returned. If you get a key, please make sure you are shown how to work the burglar alarm and have the code!
How do the floodlights work?
6 of the 7 courts are floodlit. You need to pay for the lights using the meters in the clubhouse, which take £1 and 20p coins. Lights cost £3 per hour.
Are there any restrictions on when I can play?
To be sure of a game, make sure you book a court via the website or the “Booker” app which you can download on your phone. You need to be registered with ClubSpark to book (which all members should be).
Junior members aged 10 years and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or a nominated adult. Those aged 11 to 14 years do NOT need to be accompanied on the courts up to 6.30pm. (please see Statement re Access To Club in Club Documents).
Where is the defibrillator?
The Club has an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) housed in a green cabinet which is fitted outside on the wall by the patio doors. Anyone with a smart phone/iPad is encouraged to download the training clips from the QR. Copies of this can be found on the noticeboards in the foyer and inside by the patio doors and on the cabinet itself.
Can I do anything to help?
YES PLEASE! The club is run by volunteers and we are always delighted to have more hands to the pump. If you would like to be more involved in the club please contact any of the committee members on the Contact page of the website.
