TIE BREAK TENS

What is TB10? 

  • Twelve players are competing in a round-robin, TIE BREAK TENS format. 
  • The session will be three hours (12:00 - 3:00 pm) approximately. 
  • Costs (£10 members - £12 non-members)
  • Indoor and outdoor courts are booked so that we will play come rain or shine. 

To follow are the headlines.

Kick-off and format 

  1. Coin Flip to decide who serves first
  2. The loser chooses the end to serve from
  3. First Serve – The server serves once. Then changes – Opponent serves twice and it alternates every two points.
  4. Change ends after 6 points, the winner is first to 10, clear by 2 (e.g. 9-11 or 13-15)
  5. Sudden death at 14-14 to decide the winner.

The sequence of play - Point factor 

  1. Every player will partner with each other once 

Point factor

  1. Tie break win: 3 points.
  2. Tie break loss: 1 point
  3.  Results Factor: 1 (every point you win is awarded to you
  4. Results Differential: 1 (This is the stinger. The results differential is multiplied by the score difference, e.g. 10 -5 gives the winner +5 * diff and the loser - 5 * diff.

All the points are applied to a leaderboard, and the results are provided to those participating.

Prerequisites.

  1. If all the above seems very complicated and a little bit fussy, don't worry as master of ceremonies I will be on hand to organise you all.
  2. When you sign up, you are committed to attending. However, the onus is on you to find a replacement player if a life event crops up.
  3. With 12 players, there will be 11 rounds, so be prepared to go the distance.
  4. 12 players are required to make the session happen, so sign up! Should you find all spots have gone, let me know, and I will put you on the reserve list.
