Adult Tennis

01. SOCIAL TENNIS

Social tennis takes place every Wednesday evening during the summer, starting at 6:30pm. Organised by the coaching team, this session is everyone to join in for some friendly tennis matches followed by drinks at the bar afterwards. It's recommended to avoid arranging matches on Wednesday nights as social has priority on all courts.

We also have a social session on Sunday mornings from 10am to 12pm. During the summer, this session is coordinated by the coaches, and during winter months, by the members. This session has priority on courts 1-4.

Players of all levels are welcome to join in for friendly matches and practice. It's a great opportunity to meet fellow members, improve your skills, and enjoy some friendly competition in a supportive and welcoming environment.

02. TOURNAMENTS

The club hosts internal tournaments year-round.

Box Leagues - Both winter and summer box leagues are run nearly all year round and include singles and doubles where you will be grouped with people of similar abilities. This is a friendly competition format for players of all abilities, so a good way to start match play.

Bank Holiday Tournaments - Each bank holiday hosts a one-day mixed doubles tournament. You will team up with different partners each round, culminating in semi-finals and finals, where the winners receive a grand trophy!

There's also a host of knockout competitions throughout the year including:

  • Club Championships
  • Winter Tournament
  • Handicap Tournament - a popular competition which puts players of all abilities on a level playing field.

If you want to enter any doubles events but don’t have a partner, the tournament organisers can find you one. Just note on your form that you need a partner.

03. TEAM TENNIS

The club has over 25 teams in external leagues playing matches against other local clubs. They cover all abilities and ages, matches are played both midweek evenings and at the weekends.

If you are interested in playing in one of our teams please speak with the Men’s/Ladies’ Captain or the Members’ Rep whose details are on the noticeboard in the clubhouse and the final page of the members handbook.

04. NEW TO TENNIS EVENTS

These events are exclusively for those who are brand new to tennis and are on the ‘New To Tennis’ initiative. They are designed to ease you into the tennis club as your skills develop and build your confidence before joining our other activities on offer at the club.

New To Tennis Social

Free session organised regularly through the Whatsapp group. This is a great opportunity to practice your shots and play with others who are brand new to tennis.

As more members join the initiative, the club will look at introducing more New To Tennis exclusive events.

New to Tennis members are welcome to come to any of the club’s activities. If you are wondering which activity might be a good fit for you please talk to one of the coaching team.
