It was an absolute pleasure for Liversedge Tennis Club to host its first Grade 4 tournaments since reopening the tennis club.
The tournaments, for under 12s boys and under 12s girls saw competitors come from as far afield as Sunderland, Edinburgh and even Kilmarnock.
The standard was incredibly high and big congratulations to Alex Ingham, of Lancashire for being runner-up despite being only ten years of age! He lost out in a highly competitve final 4-3 (8) 4-2 to Aarav Iyer.
In the girls event there were some big upsets with neither the number one nor number two seeds making the final. The final saw Tiana Vrajitoriu (who had beaten second seed Isablla Swanborough 1-4 4-3(5) 10-6 in the semi finals) comfortably emerge victorious 4-1 4-0 Emily Kaye who had beaten the top seed in the quarter finals earlier in the day.
The weather held out (just) and we look forward to hosting many more tournaments at this standard in the future.
The feedback we are receiving is that all visitors love our small, informal atmosphere.
Best Wishes
Andy
