A Team - Division 1

The first night of the season saw the first team with a tough assignment at home to an Akroyden team that finished third in 2019. 

First pair of Andy Lucas and Barry Dennahy made a slow start against a strong first pair including league secretary James Hodgson losing 3-6 4-6 whilst second pair Oliver Barker and Rohan Duffin (Captain) lost against the second pair by the same scoreline.

The Calderdale League however is scored by each set won generating a point for the team so there is always reason to continue despite being four sets to nil at the rotation. 

Andy Lucas and Barry Dennahy scored a comfortable win 6-0 6-1 against the second pair and Oliver Barker and Rohan Duffin fought galantly to a 6-2 6-7 5-10  loss.  The end score was Liversedge A 3 Akroyden A 6.

The three sets won were however sufficient to score three points. 

B Team - Division 4

The second team had a long journey to Todmorden E team on Thursday. 

Hylton Idle and David Watson played first pair securing 6-0 6-1 wins over the Todmorden first pair and 6-2 6-3 over the second pair. 

Helmut Maack and Richard Ellis (Captain) similarly had comfortbale victories, starting off by beating the second pair 6-3 6-4 before besting the first pair 6-2 6-4 in the failng light. 

The match was won by Liversedge B who secured eight points and top the league after week one.
