LMTC – Mixed Doubles and Singles Ladders

The club has runs ladder social competitions which are open to all members and have proven to be very popular and a regular feature in the club’s calendar. They are a great way to meet other members and widen your network of people to play with.

Mixed doubles ladder

This event is a mixture of fun and competitiveness as members get an opportunity to play with and against different people each month. We have around 35 interested members of varying abilities and experience who are normally asked to play no more than one match each calendar month. As well as men and ladies several juniors also take part although their matches must be organised via their parent or guardian.

The matches are arranged in advance centrally with the aim of producing close and competitive games. For some of the newer members this will be their first experience of playing in a semi competitive environment. In many ways the final score is secondary to meeting and playing with people you otherwise might not come across at the club.

One of the benefits is that you can join the ladder at any time or if you have an injury, you can dip out for a month or two and then re-join. It’s a no pressure starting point to get involved with the club.

Singles ladder

This is for the more energetic and competitive of our members and is open to men, ladies and juniors (with the proviso mentioned above). There are currently 28 members playing in the singles ladder.

A ranking of all players involved takes place in the form of a listing (the ladder) and people can “challenge” others up to three places above them. Positions in the ladder will adjust according to results.

In the case of both ladders there will be a pause for a few months whilst the club tournament is running before resuming late summer.
