About Long Crendon Tennis Club

Long Crendon Tennis Club was formed in 1982, when two Macadam courts were built on Parish Council land in the village’s Recreation Ground. Floodlights were added a few years later and extended the playing day to 10pm, winter and summer alike.

Since then the club has earned a reputation for a keen competitive spirit, matched by an equally spirited social calendar. By 2001 growing numbers and a booming coaching programme prompted the club to develop and revitalise the facilities, resulting in a new club pavilion, carpet court surfaces and, in 2007, a third court. In November 2015 the two main courts were again resurfaced with a Playrite carpet, and now have a root barrier installed and better drainage, which has improved play during and after rain.

Today the club participates in both the Aylesbury and Oxfordshire leagues, with men’s, ladies’, and mixed teams in various divisions. But we know that many of our members simply enjoy a friendly social game and our two club evenings on Tuesday and Thursday (between 7pm and 9pm) welcome all standards, whether novice, rusty, or champion in the making!
