Mountain Trips

Two full days will be dedicated to explore the Franco-Italian Alps. The area is full of stunning landscapes and a rich history that dates back to the pre-Roman era. Vernante itself has the ruins of a Middle-Age castle and on the mountain peaks you can find several forts built during the XIX century at the broder between Italy and France. These mountains also saw the construction of the Via del Sale (Salt Road), which used to be a military road and is now a trail to explore the mountains and admire breath-taking landscapes.
Everyone will take part in two full-day excursions on the Franco-Italian Alps:
1. Guided tour in off-road vehicles on the Via del Sale (Salt Road). Lunch (traditional polenta and sausage) will be provided in a local mountain refuge.
2. After taking the chairlift to the mountain peak (Colle di Tenda, 1800m), we will walk along the old military roads to enjoy the landscapes and to see the old forts, built in the 19th century, that dotted the border between Italy and France.
