Meet the Martyn Lewis Tennis Coaching Team
Martyn Lewis was born in North Wales and has played Tennis since the age of 9yrs. He is a UKCC (UK Coaching Certificate) highest Level 5 Coach and has coached for over 40 years in Germany, Abu Dhabi, Guernsey, Scotland and North Wales. He has played continuously for North Wales since 1975, has been a Senior international and is now a Veteran International. Martyn has been on LTA's North Wales Management Committee and is a former board member of Tennis Wales. He hopes that his expertise can continue to be beneficial in shaping the future of tennis in Wales.
Robella Whitehall-Lewis (known as Rob) started playing tennis with her children over 25 yrs
ago. Coaching at their school she helped them win through to the school’s finals in London. She then joined the Professional Tennis Registry in the early 2000's and became an Instructor (a qualification that is recognised world-wide) and subsequently a UKCC Level 2 Coach qualification with the LTA. Since 2010, Rob has coached in the Conwy Area and in England as part of the First Advantage Team of Coaches. She is also a qualified LTA Referee.
Rob coaches adults and children of all abilities (especially beginners and improvers) and loves watching her students improve. Many of the children that she coaches become North Wales County Players.
John Whitehall is a passionate LTA accredited tennis coach with over 20 years of experience.
He is a UKCC highest Level 5 Coach, with additional training in safeguarding and working with children and vulnerable adults. He is the Head Coach at several tennis clubs across North West and a national and county team captain with over 18 years experience. John was also nominated and awarded as Performance Coach of the Year and Community Coach of the Year in the British Tennis Awards.
Over the years, John has supported and coached players (both as individuals and in groups)
of all ages and levels from starting out, to first tennis matches and right on to international representation at Tennis Europe and ITF events. He has also mentored over 15 coaches through to level 4 Tennis coach qualification
